Mom's the word

Beef-A-Roni Okay, so not everyone and their mother was here last night but more than a few actually came as their mother. More on this in a moment. The reason for the occasion was Merin McDonell's creation of a dinner reminiscent of those we fondly remember from our childhoods - all sorts of simple fare meant to be filling and, well, sort of nutritious. The pasta with tomato sauce was a big hit. However, my favorite had to be the chocolate covered graham cracker cookies (not that my mother ever gave us food that was less than healthy and good for us).

The usual, large crowd of friends and family were on hand. Ian McFarland was lovely as always with a plunging neckline and quite hairy chest. Nothing like a bearded man in a dress. Mark Gavini looked rather slick as well in a skintight purple velour shirt from the late '60's. What is your mother like Mark? Sasha Cavender joined us for the evening. She is working on a book about startup companies. And , very importantly, Dan Haig is home from his journey to India. He entertained with stories all night.

We ran into an unfortunate problem this week. Our QuickTake camera is on the fritz. Still, pix from last nite are scarce. In an attempt to make up for this shortcoming, Jenny Cool broke out the video camera and taped the whole evening. Images on the pages this week are screen grabs from the tape. Ain't technology grand? Thanks for the help, Jenny.
We are indebted to Kevin Mathieu and Ryan Powers for helping in the cleanup last nite. It's not as much of a chore as when your mother tells you to, but it's never fun.

Marjorie and Zoe

Zoe and Marjorie in the kitchen.

Ben Wing contributes this report of the evening festivities. He wandered about more than I did this week (work never ends, even during TND) and recorded some impressions for us.

And don't forget to visit our counterpart in New York
